Bill Kaiser is a 1985 Kentucky Golf Hall of Fame Inductee, whom become involved in the game of golf as a caddie at Cherokee Golf Course in Louisville,. He would later become the assistant golf professional there and later move on to become the head golf professional at Jeffersonville Country Club in Indiana. Mr. Kaiser played on the PGA TOUR from 1931-1955 and also collected Kentucky Open victories in 1934, 1938, and 1939. During his TOUR days, he joined the Hillerich & Bradsby Company in 1933 and began a long career primarily promoting PowerBilt golf clubs. He had remarkable success in gaining his company recognition and respect, which earned him the nick name “Mr. PowerBilt”.

To honor him, the Kaiser Cup was established in 1995, with Head Professionals taking on the Assistant Professional in a Cup Match format. It has since evolved into Member Professionals against the Assistant/Associate Professionals.

Players are selected based on the following criteria

  • Members Team- must be a Class A Member or Master Professional (excludes A-8 classification).
    • Standings from the prior seasons Larry Gilbert Player of the Year points race are used for which the top-8 players, plus two (2) at large selections made by the Captain. The Captain is the Larry Gilbert POY from the prior season, unless they decline the captaincy, then the next player is named Captain.
  • Assistants/Associates Team– must be a Class A-8 Member or an Associate
    • Standings from the prior seasons Assistant/Associate Player of the Year points race are used for which the top-8 players, plus two (2) at large selections made by the Captain. The Captain is the Assistant/Associate POY from the prior season, unless they decline the captaincy, then the next player is named Captain.

The 30th edition of the Kaiser Cup, presented by Levelwear the Official Team Outfitter for the Kentucky PGA, is staged to take place at Belterra Resort, April 6-7. Day 1 matches will be Four-Ball format and Day 2 matches will be Singles. Each match will be worth 1 point, and if tied after 18-holes, each team will earn ½ a point towards their total.

The all time record stands at 16-13 in favor of the Assistants/Associates going into the 2026 matches. The Assistants/Associates will look to retain the cup.
