LA GRANGE, Ky. — Haeri Lee holds onto the lead after two rounds of the 30th Kentucky Women’s Open, sitting at 2-under-par 142 following an even-par 72 on Tuesday at Oldham County Country Club. But the chase behind her tightened considerably, as a pair of amateurs playing their way up the leaderboard put themselves squarely in contention heading into the final round.

Lee Holds Steady

Lee backed up her opening-round 70 with a 72 on Tuesday, carding four birdies against four bogeys to stay atop the leaderboard through 36 holes. She turned in 38 on the front nine, picking up a birdie on the second before bogeys on the fourth, seventh and ninth pushed her to 2-over on the day. She responded on the back nine with birdies on 10, 12 and 17, though a late bogey on 18 brought her back to even par for the round. Even with the up-and-down day, Lee’s 36-hole total of 142 was enough to maintain a one-stroke cushion over the field.

Lindemoen Slips to Second

Emma Lindemoen (a) dropped one spot to second place after a 1-over 73 in round two. She opened her round with a birdie on the fourth hole but gave a shot back on the eighth to turn in 36. Her back nine proved costlier, as bogeys on 16 and 18 offset a birdie on 17, leaving her one stroke back of Lee heading into the final round.

Schrock and Dwyer Surge Up the Leaderboard

The biggest moves of the day came from Ali Schrock (a) and Kaylee Dwyer (a), who each carded 3-under 69s to post the two best rounds of the day. Schrock’s round pushed her up seven spots into third place at even par overall. She turned in 33 on the front nine, carding birdies on the first, second, fourth and seventh holes against a lone bogey on the eighth, then added two more birdies on the back nine to offset bogeys on 12 and 16.

Dwyer’s 69 was just as impressive, vaulting her ten spots up the leaderboard into fourth place at 1-over overall. She carded three birdies on the front nine against one bogey to turn in 34, then kept the momentum going on the back nine with birdies on 10, 14 and 17, despite bogeys on 12 and 15.

Looking Ahead

With Lee and Lindemoen holding the top two spots and Schrock and Dwyer both climbing into contention with the round of the day, the final round of the 30th Kentucky Women’s Open is shaping up to be a tightly contested finish. Just three strokes separate the top four players heading into Wednesday’s final round.
