Grover Justice, PGA, left little doubt at the Kentucky PGA Senior Professional Championship, closing out a wire-to-wire victory at Nevel Meade Golf Club with a 36-hole total of 141 to successfully defend the title he won a year ago.
Justice opened with a 3-under 69 on Monday and never looked back, following it up with a 72 on Tuesday to finish at 3 under par for the championship. His closest pursuers finished four shots back at 145, where a tightly bunched group of contenders traded places all week for the runner-up spot.
Brad Maynard, PGA, Keith Ohr, PGA, and Jason Hrynkiw, PGA, all finished tied for second at 145, though each got there a different way. Maynard shook off an opening 74 with a 1-under 71 in the final round, the low round of the day among the group, to climb into the tie. Ohr did the opposite, using a strong 71 on Monday to build a cushion before a 74 on Tuesday brought him back to the pack. Hrynkiw sat second behind Justice after the first round with a 2-under 70 out of Harmony Landing Country Club, but a Tuesday 75 dropped him into the tie for second alongside Maynard and Ohr.
Rounding out the top five, Dan Utley, PGA, of Owl Creek Country Club and John Bachman, PGA of Lake Forest Country Club sat one shot further back at 146 after rounds of 72 and 74.
While the finish tightened behind him, Justice’s advantage never seriously wavered. His Tuesday 72 held up well against a group of contenders who each played solid golf but couldn’t quite close the gap on the leader. Maynard, Hrynkiw, and Ohr took to a playoff to determine the 2nd and 3rd qualifier spots and 1st alternate position. Hrynkiw made quick work on the first playoff hole by making a birdie while Ohr and Maynard continued for another three holes. Ohr would go on to claim the final qualifying spot with Maynard taking the 1st alternate position.
The week carried added significance beyond the trophy. Justice, Ohr and Hrynkiw all punched their tickets to the 38th Senior PGA Professional Championship, which will be played at Superstition Mountain Golf & CC in Gold Canyon, Arizona, October 22-25, 2026.
